Show Those Curves

At Weddings by Rachel we know how difficult it can be for plus size brides to find their perfect wedding dress. With so many bridal stores around and so few plus size dresses available for brides to try on, it can be hard to know where to start.

Here are some pointers to get you started on the hunt for your perfect dress.

  • Look for dresses with a corset back – not only will they enhance your curves but will give you better support on your big day
  • Opt for a full skirt with a wide hem as this will look very flattering
  • If you are conscious about your arms, opt for cap sleeves or even a lace bolero or shrug for a bit of extra coverage
  • If you do go for sleeves, avoid anything that is too puffy at the top and tight at the bottom as this can make arms look bigger than they are
  • For busty brides, consider the type of neckline on a dress. It may be wise to avoid halter and sleeveless dresses and look for a portrait, sweetheart or square neckline – these can lengthen your neck without revealing too much
  • All styles will look different on different brides, so it is important to make sure that you feel comfortable in a dress and most importantly, that you love the way it looks. These tips won’t be suitable for everyone but are good guidelines to give you an idea where to start
  • Look online for plus size designer ranges to give you an idea of what you like the look of. These ranges are often modelled by plus size brides so it is an accurate picture.

We love the Sonsie range by Veromia. Here are some examples of their beautiful designs.

Weddings by Rachel would also recommend that brides have a look at Elderberry Brides, who offer a fantastic selection of plus size dresses.

Searching for the Sun

Increasing amounts of couples are getting married abroad nowadays in order to guarantee themselves some sunshine. Weddings by Rachel love beach weddings but know that brides often struggle with ideas for fashion, decorations and stationery for destination weddings.

After you have picked your beautiful destination and set your date, your mind will probably turn to colour schemes. Popular beach colours tend to be blues, greens, corals, yellows and naturals. We’ve picked out some of our favourite items in these colours to give you inspiration.

This marigold bridesmaid dress from Dessy (style number 2802) is beautiful for a destination wedding and is available in a variety of colours for both the dress and sash.

This coral chiffon bridesmaid dress (Alvina Valenta Style AV9130) is absolutely stunning and would look outstanding on the beach. Also available in a variety of colours, this one is a winner.

To add decoration to your tables and as a fantastic favour, consider these deck chair tea light holders. They will look beautiful lit on the table and are a great memory to take away. These are from Beach Wedding Favours.

Or, for another great favour that is beautiful and sensible in the hot weather, why not consider this sandalwood fan from A Wedding Less Ordinary?

When it comes to destination stationery, this invitation is stylish, modern and memorable. The ‘Passport to Love’ range from Dottie Creations is perfect for those travelling to wed.

Weddings by Rachel can help you coordinate your destination wedding, helping liaise with suppliers abroad, shop around for your perfect accessories, maintain your budget and much more. With packages to suit every bride, contact us today to discuss the options available.
